What I Worked On My Design Journey

Designing a complete product from scratch with no assets and limited time.

Customer-Facing UI Design

Designed the main property platform where end users can browse listings, apply filters, and compare properties ensuring the interface was intuitive, informative, and built to support confident decision-making.

Key Takeaways

My first freelance project with friends. A full end-to-end experience that taught me what real-world design work truly demands.

Contracts Matter More Than You Think

Freelance work goes beyond agreeing on a price. A proper contract should define revision limits, post-final change fees, and support hours. Without clear boundaries, scope creep becomes unavoidable. This project also highlighted the importance of accurate workload estimation, underpricing early reflected how much we underestimated the actual effort each deliverable required.

Wearing the PM Hat

Without a PO or PM to translate client needs, our team had to brainstorm, map user flows, and align everyone from scratch. Bridging the gap between UX/UI, frontend, and backend required constant communication and clarity. Starting from zero branding added even more to the scope, every asset had to be built from the ground up before design could even begin.

Timeline & Managing Expectations

Delivering a full product in under two months while everyone held full-time jobs. Demanded serious commitment outside working hours. Frequent follow-ups and last-minute change requests added pressure to an already tight schedule. The hardest part was helping the client understand that every visible element involves a complex process that takes time and careful execution.
